In this case study, a pipe spool fabrication facility faced long fit-up cycles for pipe, flange, and elbow assemblies, requiring hours and a welder/fitter with one helper. LJ Welding Automation provided a solution featuring the 40TMR Pipe Fit-Up Turning Rolls and H24PS-100 Powered Headstock Elevation Welding Positioner. Within 10 weeks, LJ designed, built, trained, and delivered the system, reducing fit-up time from hours to minutes and halving labor needs. This was achieved through simple controls, hydraulic actuated idlers for quick alignment, and a lateral track motion rail system, eliminating the need for cribbing, manual jacks, and crane reconfiguration.
