Mechanical Design Engineer
Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of new products as well as improvements to existing products. The position will be accountable to performing a variety of engineering work which may be related to applications; electrical/electronic; mechanical; manufacturing; quality; and safety. You will work with and on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in depth evaluation of various factors.

Responsibilities
- New Product design utilizing industry knowledge and experience, creativity and ingenuity, and input from other team members and customers
- Analyze equipment operations, processes and associated procedures to determine and improve effectiveness in line with productions, quality, health and safety requirements
- Conduct defect analysis ie: root cause analysis and develop corrective/ preventative action requirements
- Work within Manufacturing Cell Team as required and propose/implement solutions for continuous improvement.
- Ensure production team is assembling the product as designed
- Support quality control to ensure products are manufactured as per specifications
Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification with 5+ years’ experience
- Experience with modern welding systems, material handling, automation, control systems, robotics, Industrial safety systems
- P.Eng (APEGGA Registered or equivalent)
- Relevant work experience in complex machine design, and knowledges of modern manufacturing processes.
- Ability to analyze processes for continuous improvement
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts and Quality Control (ISO : 2008) environment
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills coupled with excellent problem solving capabilities
- Ability to analyze consumptions and provide assistance to eliminate waste and improve production efficiency
- Ability to work within cross functional team environment
- Computer literate in Word, Excel, Microsoft Project
- Proven and demonstrable proficiency in current Solidworks CAD and CAE Software (FEA), knowledge of CAD Administration systems an asset (PDM Works)
- Understanding of engineered shop drawing standards, tolerances, weldment detailing, Bill of Material (BOM) construction; experience with machine design an asset.
- Use of Solidworks CAD for visual presentations including animations, renderings, exploded views and 3D-PDF generation
- Ability to work with a team, as well as independently and with minimal supervision
